Naomi Raicu is a senior at Shorewood High School. She has been writing for Ripples since her freshman year, joining the editorial board in her junior year. Currently, Naomi is an intern at the Popa Biophysics Lab, where she studies the unfolding mechanisms of proteins. Her other interests include doing physics, playing piano and violin, reading, writing, and making things. Naomi's favorite Ripples section to write for is the Opinion section, as she enjoys analytical writing and constructing (hopefully) sound arguments. She enjoys being a part of Ripples because writing for the paper complements her passion for science: it will prepare her for a future where she will publish her work in scientific journals, edit, and peer review articles, conveying the broader impacts of her scientific work. She also appreciates the rigor and high standards to which Ripples adheres, and always enjoys the ambience of layout week. Naomi looks forward to another year of interviews, story researching, and late-night opinion writing sessions!
