Mike Halloran, Advisor
Mike Halloran is an English and journalism teacher at Shorewood High School. He has taught in that capacity, and advised the student newspaper, since 2001. When he is not seeing to his job as an educator, he likes to swim in Lake Michigan, as often as possible, and to travel, to as many different places as possible. A recent road trip around Lake Superior has combined both of these passions. When Halloran thinks of the time he has spent advising the student paper, he remembers the many relationships he has had with students and how they last beyond the students’ time on the paper. He also likes how the work of student journalism challenges some of the most accomplished students, and how it allows for students who don’t always find success in school to do so in a different–not strictly academic– environment.
