You guessed it — your favorite foodie trio is back again for another mouth-watering review. Inspired by our cravings, we echolocated to Mediterranean Cuisine on the corner of Water and Mason St. in the beautiful city of Milwaukee, WI.
This wonderful place opened this year in August and took the spot of Angry Taco which closed in 2020 (OnMilwaukee, Lori Fredrich). As we walked in, we were greeted by an awe-inspiring mural of Greece that stretched across the far wall, readying our minds for the Mediterranean excellence we were about to enjoy.
Unfortunately for us, Mediterranean Cuisine has no waiters to chat with, but the cashier at the front was very pleasant and offered us free bottles of water. Enzo was immediately transfixed by the Lamb Chops, but he quickly broke out of his trance and ordered the Gyro Plate for $16.99 and a Lemon San Pellegrino for $2.99. Pearl ordered the Chicken Shawarma Plate for $16.99 and the Greek Fries for $5.99. Amelia ordered the Falafel Pita for $10.99. The Pita was the Lois priced entree on the menu, but it was still enough to feed a whole family, guy. We sat down at our table by the window and enjoyed the tasteful Turkish tunes in the background.
The Greek Fries were the first dish to arrive, and arrive they did in a jiffy. They were perfectly crisped and topped with Greek seasonings, feta cheese, parsley, and came with a side of garlic aioli. All three critics were immediately impressed by the quality, freshness, and portion size of the dish. All the ingredients paired perfectly together, creating a healing elixir, not unlike slurp juice (for all you season 1 OG’s).
After being revitalized by this yummy dish, our entrees arrived shortly. Enzo’s Gyro Platter was unlike any other. The meat was succulent and flavorful, yet still grounded and humble. The salad, which came in both the Gyro and Chicken Platter, was delectable, yet Enzo wished there were less onions. The pita bread and rice were uneventful, but helped highlight the other delicious ingredients on the plate (including one grape leaf!). He rated the dish an 8.5/10.
Pearl’s Chicken Shawarma Plate came steaming hot straight out of the 24-hour marinade. This chicken was the real flipping deal. You could taste all 24 hours of that marinade in the tenderness of the chicken and the base of Turkish lavash bread, tomato salad, and basmati rice completed the plate. All three critics agreed that the chicken was cooked perfectly, and the portion size was enough to comfortably feed two people. Pearl rated this dish a 9/10, losing a point for the price.
Amelia’s Falafel Pita was amaze-balls, literally! It came with four amazing house-made falafel balls on top of perfectly crisp pita bread. It also came with fresh veggies and drenched in scrum-diddly-yum-yum garlic tahini sauce. Amelia loved this dish, but wished there were more balls to munch on, and thought there were a little too many veggies, so she gave it an 8.5/10.
All three foodies agreed that this restaurant scored an 8.5/10 because of its thoughtful environment and delectable foods. They loved the food and know next time they’ll be cutting up to get there. Although Mediterranean Cuisine had good service, the experience would be improved by having waiters because the critics like to chat their waiters up! Overall, they wholly recommend this restaurant for you and your beloved friends. Signing out, this is Big Enzo, Peal, and Meems. Spread peace and love!
