Where, when and how to vote this election

Village adjusts voting logistics amidst coronavirus

CORRECTION: In the print issue, it incorrectly states that early voting will occur between October 21 and October 23. In person early voting in Shorewood will occur between October 21 and October 30.

For many years, the Shorewood High School North Gym has served as the main polling place for Shorewood residents. Due to the construction and renovation of the high school, polling has been moved to the Library/Village Center (3920 N. Murray Ave.) for Wards 1 through 8, and to North Shore Presbyterian Church (4048 N. Bartlett Ave.) for Wards 9 through 12

Early voting will be held on weekdays at these sites from Tuesday, October 20, through Friday, October 30. The early voting polls will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with the exception of October 30, where they will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Due to COVID-19, there has been an increase in absentee ballot requests. The last day to request an absentee ballot by mail is October 29, but request your ballot as soon as possible! In an effort to make the absentee ballot process as easy and straightforward as possible, the village has installed a white drop-box in the parking lot behind Village Hall. Community members can drive up and return their absentee ballot without exiting their car. Voters may also send their ballot to Village Hall through the USPS. There is no preferred method of returning absentee ballots, but all they must be received no later than 8:00 p.m. on November 3

Polling sites are available all day on election day. In Shorewood, the Library/Village Center and North Shore Presbyterian Church will be open on November 3 from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. In regards to voter registration –– considering that the October 14 deadline for online registration has passed –– Shorewood residents will need to register in person at Village Hall (3930 N. Murray Ave.) before or on October 30.  You can register to vote at your assigned polling location on election day –– just remember to bring both a proof of residency document and proof of identification.
